In Poland, sworn translations are produced by a tlumacz przysiegly (sworn translator) appointed by the Ministry of Justice after passing a rigorous state examination. Candidates must hold a masters degree in philology or postgraduate translation studies, Polish (or EU/EFTA) citizenship, a clean criminal record, and full legal capacity.
A translation becomes legally valid when it includes the translators signature and seal, the date and place of translation, sequential page numbering, a reference to the original document, the translators contact details, and an affidavit declaring the translations accuracy.
